5. His Obsession

"If she comes to this mansion, I'll leave it forever. How could you even think of it Raj?"

Mandakini bhabhi yelled at Balraj bhaiya for fixing my alliance with Inayat - who is the member of the Khan family.

"Babygirl, it was important for the state."

Bhaiya tried to elucidate to her, but she showed her palm to him, flaring angrily.

"Meri didi behosh ho jati hai us Aryan ke karan. Usne meri didi ko dhokha dia. Haan! Haan Aaj mai Raj ke sath hu par wo....wo bhi pyar karti thi Raj se par us Aryan ne bhadkaya didi ko taki wo inhe chhod ke uske paas jaye aur phir kya kia usne.....do saal tak na sirf uska rape kia balki dusro se bhi karwaya. Us Aryan ki behen ko mai apni devrani manlu? KABHI NAHI! Mere papa hasna bhul gaye us dusht ki wajah se. USKI BEHEN IS GHAR NAHI AYEGI, BAS!"

"My sister faints even today because of that Aryan. He betrayed my sister so badly. Yes! Yes I'm settled with my Raj today, but when she loved him, Aryan created misunderstandings between them, he separated them, and what did he do after that? He not only raped her, but also invited others to devour upon her, to avenge my father. And you want me to accept his sister as my sister-in-law? NEVER! My dad forgot to smile because of him. I WILL NEVER ACCEPT HIS SISTER INTO THIS FAMILY. THAT'S IT!"

Bhabhi bellowed, her voice echoed in the living room. All of us were gathered over here to discuss about this alliance. Bhabhi wasn't wrong at all, but my Inayat was also not responsible for all this, then why should she suffer. She deserves all the love, and I'm ready to give her everything I have - even the secret that is unknown to everyone, except Arjun and me.

"Don't worry, Priye. This marriage is not taking place now. Inayat is already getting married to someone else so we cannot proceed with this alliance anymore."

Bhaiya asserted, holding bhabhi in her arms. She was still anaemic, such mood swings were common to her, and when it came to Aryan or my father, she got terrified, getting such panic attacks.

"Take her to the room, Balraj. She shouldn't be getting angry."

Ma instructed bhaiya, and he went inside carrying bhabhi in his arms.

"Let me get some juice for her."

Ragini bhabhi mumbled, strolling towards the kitchen. Dhanraj bhaiya walked to his room, since baby Mandira had started crying there.

How the fuck could Armaan do this to me? He knows it very well that I don't give up on my aims, and his sister is my obsession. I just can't let anyone else touch her now. She belongs to me. Only me!

I rushed out of the mansion, towards my Royal Enfield and began riding to Arjun. I drove insanely to the police station. He came running out of there.

"Abe yaha kya kar Raha hai tu? Chal paas Wale park me."

"What the hell are you doing here? Come with me to the nearby park."

He said, settling behind me on my bike. My anguish was clearly reflecting in the speed of my bike.

"Inayat is getting married within a week."

Arjun asserted, making me flare furiously. I halted the bike near an abandoned park. Hardly a few people visit this place now. Both of us went inside.

"Bhai, meri baat maan. Bhool ja usse. Bohot aa jayengi usse achi wo bhi Hindu. Kyu mahabharat karwa Raha hai?"

"Brother, listen to me. Forget her. Many like her will come, better than her, maybe a Hindu. Why do you want to have Mahabharat once again?"

He tried to elucidate to me, but I stood up immediately.

"Nahi bhool sakta. Zindagi me pehli baar kisi ko is had tak apna Maan liya hai. Ab wo sirf meri hai. Mahabharat ho ya pralay aye, Jairaj aur Inayat ko koi alag nahi kar sakta!"

"I can't forget her. For the first time in my life I fell for someone so hardly. She is only mine now. No matter Mahabharat happens or an apocalypse. No one can separate Jairaj and Inayat."

I asserted, recalling her moon face that I had seen in the Khans haveli that day, those intense infuriated orbs that held the power to rip me apart. She is a damsel, and I want her to be my Goddess whom I could worship in my own ways - the dirty unspoken ways.

"Arjun, you had told me about some sleeper cells who were working under my father on that Kumbh Mela mission, but they were unaware of my father's identity. Where are those people now?"

I asked, turning back to face Arjun, who seemed bewildered with this sudden question.

"They are in their houses, working peacefully. Why?"

He enquired, frowning at me.

"They are dangerous people, Arjun. Why are they roaming free?"

I asked, planning something unexpected in my mind.

"They are sleeper cells. We can't arrest them. They work only when instructed by their master, who was your father and Aryan. Both of them are dead for the world now, so there is no need to worry about them."

Arjun explained to me, and a smirk danced across my lips.

"Brother, what if the third person gives orders to them now? He is still alive and unknown to us, and sleeper cells are like inactive cancer cells. They become active the moment they come in contact with a carcinogen. Why should we wait for them to become cancer? Let's kill them before that only!"

I tried to keep my point before Arjun. He nodded for a while, then exhaled sharply before asserting

"But they are common citizens of India like us. We can't kill them simply. Also they aren't doing anything for now. Why do you want to murder them right now?"

Arjun tried to calm my vexation down, but I shook my head.

"They are sleeper cells, which means they can cause harm to this country and the countrymen under someone's orders. What if some terrorist organisation communicates with them in future? They will certainly get ready for the mission. They don't deserve to live and breathe in this country thinking ill about it. That's why I want to kill them. Ask your men to get them to me, else I'll use my own ways."

I somewhat threatened Arjun, and he nodded.

"You will kill them silently without any hustle. Right?"

He asked, getting confused because of my sudden demand, and I smirked nodding my head.

"I have a plan."

I muttered, signalling him to start his work. He called some of his friends who were expert in these hidden works, and they began predating on those sleeper cells.

It was Sunday and my Inayat's nikaah is planned to take place on the next Sunday. I have only six days in with me to bring Armaan on his knees.

Two days passed like that, the Khans haveli was getting embellished like a newly married bride.

'ring ring'

It was Arjun's call. He informed me about those sleeper cells who were now kidnapped by his men. They were nearly 200 in number. I asked him to tie them up inside a locked room until I arrive there.

Within a few minutes, I was there, inside the room where they were kept hostages.

"Is shukravaar ye sab unnav me musalmano ke vesh bhusha me masjid ke age namaz padhte samay mare jayenge. Inpe hamare log hamla karenge Jo Hindu ki shakl me ayenge!"

"This Friday they all will be killed right before a mosque, dressed as Muslims, in Unnav by my men, who will be disguised as Hindus."

I declared, gazing at Arjun. His gaze flickered for a while before he asked

"Why like that?"

"This will create chaos in the state. Armaan will wonder that Muslims have died. He will be compelled to rethink about his decision of not letting Inayat get married to me."

I asserted, and Arjun gaped at me.

"Most of them are Hindus, some are Christians and yes, many are Muslims too. Why will people think that they are all Muslims?"

He asked, raising his hands in the air.

"Marne ke baad koi laash se mazhab nhi puchta. Ye musalman ki vesh bhusha me marenge to musalman hi Mane jayenge. Dusri baat kisi ko pata nahi chalega ki ye sleeper cells the, ye masoom janta banke marenge. Phir dekhta hu Armaan kya karta hai!"

"Nobody ask about religion once someone is dead. They will die disguised as Muslims so people will think that they are ones. Secondly, no one will ever come to know that they were sleeper cells, they will die as innocents. Let's see what Armaan does after that!"

I asserted, making Arjun gulp.

"That's dangerous, Jai. What if it rekindles further mass killings?"

He enquired, tension etched on his face.

"It won't. Armaan will come running to us after that."

I assured him, patting his shoulder.

"They are dangerous for our country. Let them end up like this."

I muttered, and Arjun nodded.

All of them were transported to Unnav within two days. It was Thursday already and the plan was all set. My men had gathered there. Some Muslim goons had attacked a Hindu locality a few days ago, causing severe casualties to them. Amjad was happy with that attack.

My brothers did their best to rescue most of them before more of it could take place, but still we lost nearly thirty people forever. I hate communal riots. I wish our wedding will cease this uneasiness all across the state.

Those 200 people were dressed as traditional Muslims on Friday, and they gathered before a huge mosque to recite Namaz in the afternoon. Most of them were just pretending to do so under the gunpoint, when my men attacked them publicly.

All the attackers were dressed as Hindus. This sudden incident disturbed the entire city - Unnav, and normal public began running here and there.

The police was already aware of this attack so no actual casualties took place. Only the sleeper cells were slaughtered publicly, posed as Muslims.

My brothers did not know that I have been planning this since a week, otherwise Balraj bhaiya must have chopped me off, but this is how I am - secretive, dangerous and possessive.

I was right when I declared myself as the most dangerous 'thakur'. I am the most gruesome one, but I attack under the shadows, not publicly, and this was my attack on Armaan.

After planning my own father's assassination, I've become more heartless. He murdered my emotional self the day I got to know that he raped my mother, who was his wife.

Author's POV

In the Khan Haveli (On Friday - two days before Inayat and Hamid's nikaah)

The entire haveli was celebrating the upcoming nikaah of the only daughter of Khans, who is also the 'gem' of Khans.

Armaan seemed busy all the time, so busy that he wasn't able to give time to his dearest sister, who would leave this haveli within two days.

Inayat's mothers were also too occupied to discuss anything with her. She was left all alone, no one could notice the silent tears that she shed all the time.

Hamid wasn't a good person. He had tried to threaten and eve-tease Inayat when he was ensured of getting married to her.

Only Rukhsaar could notice Inayat's dull face, with no excitement of beginning this new phase of her life, but Inayat didn't even talk to her. She had turned numb in the past five days.

"Ya Allah! Inayat ki muskurahat lauta dijiye. Unke Bhai Jaan ko unki zindagi barbaad karne ka madhyam mat banaiye. Meri Inayat ko bilkul waisa hi shauhar dijiye jaise usne khwab dekhe ho."

"Ya Allah! Please bring back Inayat's smile. Don't make her brother the medium of ruining her life. Bless her with the man of her dreams."

Rukhsaar prayed silently while applying henna on Inayat's delicate pinkish palms.

"HEADLINES : 200 Muslim believers were killed in a massive attack while reciting Namaz on this Friday in Unnav."

A woman reporter exclaimed, as someone switched on the TV in the living room, leaving everyone in shock. Armaan was devastated with this news.
